Welcome to Teachers 4 Technology!
Birmingham Elementary School
Wylie, Texas
The purpose of this website is to spark discussion regarding Birmingham Elementary's STaR chart results and discover ways to improve our technology use within our learning community. Students need authentic instruction that will prepare them for a rapidly changing world.
A Texas Campus STaR Chart "is a tool designed for use in technology planning, budgeting for resources, and evaluation of progress in local technology projects" (Texas STaR Chart, 2006). Teachers are required to annually answer questions about their campus, which "produces a profile of campus' status toward reaching the goals of the Long Range Plan for Technology and No Child Left Behind" (Texas STaR Chart, 2006).
After analyzing STaR Chart data on Birmingham Elementary, we have room for growth in several areas. Teaching and Learning has steadily declined over the past four years. We have remained stagnant in Educator Preparation and Development and Leadership, Administration, and Instructional Support.
Collaboration with our colleagues will allow us to target key areas for technology improvement and brainstorm meaningful solutions to help us prepare our students for their future careers.
